For the summer and autumn 2001 five day tours were arranged starting in May and continuing to October 2001. These trips are not normally open to non-members but friends of members may accompany them (if space is available) on payment of a supplement of £1 on the standard charge.

All day excursions leave North Hanover Street opposite Queen Street Station at the times stated. Stops are made for tea/coffee but some members prefer to bring their own snacks and refreshments.

We do not reserve specific seats on the coaches nor do we issue tickets. It is customary to leave the two seats immediately behind the driver for the use of the excursion leader. Members should bring their N.T.S. membership cards on all excursions and wear suitable footwear and clothing.

This tour takes in a pleasant sail on Loch Katrine in the Trossachs, the main water supply to Glasgow City. The steamship S.S. Sir Walter Scott will take us on an hour long sail from Trossach's Pier.

Our coffee stop will be at Aberfoyle and afternoon tea will include a visit to the N.T.S. Bannockburn Visitors' Centre. Lunch will be taken in the Loch Achray area. Please bring suitable outdoor clothing and umbrellas.

Sizergh Castle, Kendal
This mid-week tour will take us to the Lake District and Cumbria. Lunch will be in the scenic town of Kendal.

The Strickland family have lived at Sizergh since 1200, and an impressive 14th century pele tower was extended in Tudor times, with some of the finest Elizabethan carved over mantels in the country. The castle is now a National trust property and contains good examples of English and French furniture and includes a large limestone rock garden

Lennoxlove and the Scottish Sea bird Centre, North Berwick
Lennoxlove House is situated near Haddington and is the home of the Duke of Hamilton. The house contains a death mask reputed to be that of Mary Queen of Scots, a silver casket which once contained incriminating letters that helped send Mary to her death, and a sapphire ring given to her by Lord John Hamilton. The house contains the remains of the Hamilton Palace picture collection.

The Sea bird Centre at North Berwick is an ornithological centre overlooking the Bass Rock with a film screening display and exhibition area.

Lunch will be taken in Haddington and afternoon tea in North Berwick

Broughton House is an 18th century townhouse with a pleasant garden to the rear. This was the home and studio of E. E. Homel from 1901 to 1933 one of the Glasgow Boy's and contains many of his works. Since our last visit work has been carried out on the house and garden.

We go to Threave where we hope to see through Threave House for the first time. Tea will be available in the restaurant there.
